the house search begins

met with a realtor tonight. a friend at work recommended him, and he seems pretty personable, knowledgeable, and laid-back. time to find a nice house in this city now that someone with a piddly income can afford. anyone out there willing to donate a few hundred thousand towards the purchase of a beautiful victorian rowhouse?

there are lots of places for sale these days, with houses on the market for a long time. Take your time, and dont be pressured by your agent, sellers or anyone else.

yep, i sure don't intend to let anyone force me into a decision. it is kind of depressing, though, to look at what i'd really like, versus what i can expect to afford. $300,000 doesn't buy much in this town these days...

When I bought my house I made 1/2 as much as I do now and I could afford a dumpy but livable house. It took several raises to get to the point where I could afford to renovate the place to my desires. Also the years living in the house made be realize what he house needed.
So keep that in mind. Location is key. Once you got location and a place you can work with over time, then you can make the place a palace. That or you can settle for a 1 bedroom condo in move in condition.
45 Q St NE ( MLS DC6627787) is for sale $299,000 and it isn't an "as-is".
